Swamp, Charcoal Sketch, 2022.

"Swamp" is a charcoal sketch that portrays the transformation of Al Hola Lake.

In pre-Zionist occupation, Al Hola Lake thrived as a crucial lifeline teeming with biodiversity in Palestine. Regrettably, the Israeli government opted to drain the lake, repurposing the land for agriculture despite its unsuitability for farming. This ill-conceived decision transformed the once vibrant lake into a stagnant swamp, leading to the extinction of various species including the water buffalo, certain birds, and specific types of fish.
