Al-Hula Lake, Series of Drawings, 2022.

The images show two drawings from a series of twelve  in which the artist imagined how the fish of ‘Al Hola Lake’ might have evolved if the Zionist government had not drained it. These drawings depict a futuristic vision of what could have been if the lake had been allowed to thrive.
In pre-Zionist occupation, Al Hola Lake thrived as a crucial lifeline teeming with biodiversity in Palestine. Regrettably, the Israeli government opted to drain the lake, repurposing the land for agriculture despite its unsuitability for farming. This ill decision transformed the once vibrant lake into a stagnant swamp, leading to the extinction of various species including the water buffalo, certain birds, and specific types of fish.
