Purgatory, Installation, 2019.

Purgatory, an interactive artwork, extends a warm invitation to the audience to actively engage. Visitors are encouraged to take a seat at the table, play the video cassette, and witness the passage of a man's life through the realm of purgatory.
The video presentation unveils the story of an elderly man who, despite the passage of time, remains trapped in the garden where he experienced profound childhood trauma. His existence appears suspended, as his body continues to age while being immersed in the haunting echoes of the past.
The installation itself comprises various elements representing different periods of this individual's life, encapsulating the journey from childhood to old age. Through Purgatory, the artist explores the concept of an intermediate state—a realm where those who have departed in a state of grace and friendship with God undergo a transformative purification process, ultimately attaining the holiness necessary for entry into heaven.
